Jodi Foster began screen acting aged 2. At 15 Foster was cast as a child prostitute in Taxi Driver, then followed a decade of highly sexualised roles in Bugsy Malone, Beach House, Carny and others.

Foster exploited this stereotype in 1988s The Accused, winning her first Oscar as a waitress seeking justice from her abusers, and then her second as FBI agent Clarice Starling in 1992s The Silence of the Lambs.
